Ferrous Metals

Ferrous Metals is a collection of work inspired by my found objects and photographs from the coastline, The Yorkshire Coast has been a strong influence in my life since childhood. For a long as I can remember I have been inspired by the Yorkshire coastline. My childhood holidays were spent by the sea, playing in the sand and collecting shells and pebbles.

As an adult, I make regular trips to Whitby, Scarborough and Runswick Bay, walking the beaches collecting rope, ceramic fragments and rusted metal. In the studio, I capture the textures and colours of these found objects using digital embroidery, hand stitching and the objects themselves, forming a collection of work that shows the beauty of surfaces.
