Deconstruct/Reconstruct

Deconstruct/Reconstruct began in 2014 when my grandmother’s health began to deteriorate. I wanted to create a catalogue of childhood memories inspired by a sofa from the 1930s.

I’m fascinated by objects that remind me of a certain time or place and the memories that are released when these objects are deconstructed and explored before reconstructing them into new forms. My memories of the sofa were captured using digital embroidery, text pieces and photography, creating an archive of memories which would never be complete.
