For a long as I can remember I have been inspired by the Yorkshire coastline. My childhood holidays were spent by the sea, playing in the sand and collecting shells and pebbles.
In adult life the seaside is the place that provides a sense of calm. Walking the beaches at Whitby, Runswick Bay and Saltburn-by-Sea, collecting rope, ceramic fragments and rusted metal.
The spirit of this beautiful coastline and the objects I collect are captured using digital embroidery, hand stitching and the objects themselves forming a collection of work that helps me to create an archive of my actual and metaphorical journeys.
