My studio has been a hive of activity for the last few weeks so I thought I would share what I’ve been working on recently.
I’m excited to be working with The Bowery on a series of hand stitching workshops this year. I’ve been busy making samples and writing descriptions for their website, they are now taking bookings for my hand embroidered pendant workshop in August through Eventbrite.
The Bowery also offer a range of creative sessions for baby showers and hen parties so I have been working on some fun baby grow and knicker samples.
I’ve been continuing to sample for Weave // Fragments, an upcoming exhibition at Sunny Bank Mills. My initial plans have developed into some new pieces so I have been experimenting with these new ideas.
The new Heydays term starts next week and I have spent some time researching Craftivism and the projects we will be working on during the summer term.
Our first project is close to my heart as it was started by my good friend Leigh Bowser. The Blood Bag Project aims to highlight the importance of blood donation and was started by Leigh after her niece was diagnosed with Diamond Blackfan Anemia.
Participants in the project create a textile blood bag which features on the website, the blood bags have also been exhibited across the UK. My Heydays group will be making their own blood bag for the project.
